I shared in my master mind this morning that typically I am that goal setting person however these past few months I have felt stagnant. Ever felt that way? As I self reflect, I know some of this fog is due to my grieving of my mom's passing, the heavy toll care giving took on myself and my siblings and our families along with a very successful year with my business thus far, and yet the sergeant in my head demands more of me.
First off, I am giving myself grace to pace myself. Secondly, I am honouring my waves of grief. And I have picked up along the way some #strategies that I think might help you as a #leader or #team when the fog rolls in and clarity is hiding. Here goes:
- Honour where you are. Meet yourself exactly where you are. Whether exhaustion, busyness, complacency or resistance, get in touch with what is coming up for you. I am a huge fan of you can't change what you don't acknowledge.
- Declutter your physical space to declutter your mind. Your physical environment either breathes creativity, calm, focus and productivity or confusion, overwhelm and stress. Hence why professional organizers suggest you declutter your bedroom to allow for a restful night sleep. Chaos only breeds more chaos.
- Sometimes the best problems get solved or receiving more clarity, when you go fishing. I am a fan of stepping away from the rumination of expecting more clarity to a problem or direction you want to take in your life by shelving it. A relaxed body, mind and spirit is much more creative and open to all possibilities.
- Create a mind map. From my book, The Powerhouse in you : How to lead with greater resilience, courage and confidence (www.powerfuljourney.com
) I share how using a mind map every Monday morning creates clarity, prioritization, and focus on what is realistically possible given the current circumstances in your or your colleagues's life. Creating a mind map for clarity will also be helpful.
- Ask for help. Connect with others who have gone before you. Ask what helped them get clarity. You will discover all of us have had times of confusion or uncertainty.
- Meditate daily. If only for 5 minutes to start your day. The power of silence can be profound. The answers are within you. Your responsibility is to listen with an open mind and heart.
- Take action on the nudges, signs and answers you seek. Trust that wisdom. When your heart and mind are fully connected, you will know what the next right step is. And yes, all you have to focus on is the next right step. Not the entirety of the clarity. Most importantly remember, you are a #Powerhouse.

4 个月Hi Cate.. I find that listening to my team lifts me (& them) so I try & schedule a meeting with each member (15 of them) each week. It helps me by listening to them & I find I “get more out of them” by doing this & it in turn lifts me.
