Need a HUG?

NFL football is back.? Depending on what team you support, or if you have all access, or you might possibly have had your team get blacked out, you probably tried to watch a game.? If you are from Texas, or surrounding states, you might have watched the Dallas Cowboys.? There was one point in the game where ?the Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs had an interception from the Brown’s QB.? The cameras followed him as he headed straight to his defensive backs coach, Al Harris.? There was not a fist bump, no high-five, no jump and bump hips, there was a deep heartfelt HUG.? Trevon Diggs gave Coach Al Harris a HUG!? Wait, what?? Yes, you see, Trevon had been out due to injury, and this was his first game back since September 2023.? What is the big deal about a HUG on national television?? Let’s take a look.

Heartfelt????????????????????????

It was Heartfelt!? You can tell when someone is offering a HUG out of obligation or if they mean it. This one was heartfelt.? Diggs had conquered his therapy and rehabilitation from a torn ACL and ahead of schedule.? It is obvious that Al and Trevon have a friendship that extends beyond the field.? Diggs was quoted as saying, “I didn’t feel it until I actually was out there like, wow, I’m actually back.”? If you paid attention, it wasn’t just Trevon hugging Coach Harris, Coach Harris have him a HUG back.? Coach Harris had been by his side through his recovery and Harris knew what it meant to Trevon to be back on the field.? Who do you have that knows where you are and what you have been through?? When you get put I the highlight reels, who are you looking to share it with?? Who are you going to HUG?? Are you a “Coach Harris” for anyone?? Who can you walk along if they are going through a period of “rehabilitation?”? Who can? you help get back on the “field?”

Coaches understand!? What you may not know is that Al Harris played professional football for 14 years, and guess what?? He also had a knee injury that took him out for a year.? A year away from competing at the game he loves.? Coach H understands what it takes to work to get back on the field.? He had experienced the similar type of injury, and he had walked in Trevon’s proverbial shoes.? There was empathy and sympathy.? Who do you relate to?? Who do you know that you can be a motivator to inspire them to overcome their obstacle(s)? It may not be a season ending knee injury, however how can you help someone who has gone through what you have gone through?? I know it was not a fun period of your life, a tough season (see what I did there ??), however be like Coach Harris and share your experience to help others?? What experience can you share that will help others?? Who do you know who might be the same place you were at??

Gratitude???????????????????????

Gratitude is contagious!? Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation or thankfulness for the things in your life.? There is an obvious admiration and gratitude that Trevon shares with Coach Harris.? They both understand each other, because they have both overcome a major milestone in their professional lives. What have you overcome in your personal or professional life?? Who was the last person to show you gratitude?? What did the gratitude revolve around?? Was it affirmation?? Appreciation?? Or was it recognition of an accomplishment that was keeping you from being successful?? Take some time to share some gratitude and let the people in your life know how much you appreciate them.? Maybe give them a HUG!

With it being his first game back, and getting an interception, there was a lot of emotion.? Yes, he was back on the field playing the game he loves, but he was back on the field and achieving success.? He is one interception away from becoming the fourth player since 1980 to have 20 interceptions in his first 50 games. That is an amazing feat and it could not be done if he did not have people in his life who coached him and believed in him.? Who do you have in your life?? Do you show them heartfelt appreciation?? Do they understand who you are and what you have been through?? Can they relate to you?? Show them some gratitude for being with you and walking aside you.? It can make a HUGe difference in their life and it will probably make a HUGe difference in yours.? You never know, you might get a HUG!
