Need of the hour?is to have Skilling Universities……….

Recently i had a chance to visit Skilling University in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and had discussion with the teams over there. Specially had interaction with the senior professors who are going to lead these universities in to their respective subjects.

The interaction with them , their road map of delivering the knowledge – skills has really impressed me a lot. Spending almost 30 years in to Industry whose major customers are from academia and industry and continuously seen the gap between what Industry required from a fresher and what is been ?delivered. i had been part of many discussion about Industry- Institute Interaction Program , Industry – Institute Collaboration and signing ?MoU’s ,Getting ?Industry members on board ?in BOS and?establishing Center of Excellence many such – similar activities were practiced and witnessed. i strongly felt that it has not delivered what was expected from it . MoU’s were filed somewhere , Industry Interaction was a day activity up to lunch hour ?and Industry members in BOS are simply for a signature. Somewhere, integrity among all the ?stake holders was missing. We may say everybody wanted to live in his ocean of opinion. This may be the reason that ??Industry has not received what they were looking for or a vice a versa. It will be a endless blame game.

You may agree that most of the graduates considers themselves as they belong to white collar job category but they lack in to the skills set required to accomplish the job. They are simply not aware that there is nothing as White , it is a mix of seven colors (Spectrum VIBGYOR) ?, where each colour has it’s own significance. ?Green: New beginning also symbolizes growth and renewal, Purple/Violet : Creativity ,Imagination, Black: Elegance,?Red : Energy , Orange : Happy, Yellow : Clear understanding – communication , ?Indigo encourages individuals to think more deeply ?and the Blue very important : the colour of sky – ocean prompts to stability. It illustrates trust and loyalty. It ?also signifies that ?Knowledge is an ocean one has to take deep dive in to it with lean-unlearn, skill, up –skill, re-skill attitude.

We all are well aware that in technical education till date Skilling was related with Blue Collar Job which defines sky is the limit to gain knowledge , skills means more ?hands-on , do it yourself , experiment based etc…. You will also appreciate that there is no as such independent identity of White Colour, an Engineering Graduate is incomplete if he does not have Blue Collar Skills . i think ?probably some of us ?realized that we produced engineers during last couple of years which?has lack of skills (the blue collar skills) and this is the reason Skill Universities has taken the shape.

Very thoughtful idea of having this to produce engineers with Skills – Hands on expertise. Let us ?deliver knowledge which is more on ?experiments based learning . i am sure these skilled universities will also work on inducting ??Design Skills among students along with all other colors of rainbow with their significance.

During my recent visit and interaction with professors i realized they are working on the same.

Let us appreciate that Skilling Universities has taken a beautiful promising task to develop White Collar Professional with Blue Collar Inside.
