Need Helps
The sun was beginning to set, casting long, dancing shadows across the grimy city streets. Eugene watched them, his stomach rumbling in protest. Another day had passed, and another day without food. He had tried to beg, but the city's hardened hearts were closed to his pleas. The few coins he had managed to scrounge up had been spent on a small, stale loaf of bread days ago.
Eugene leaned against a cold brick wall, his eyes scanning the trash bins for any edible scraps. He found a half-eaten apple, its skin wrinkled and brown. He hesitated for a moment, the thought of the dirt and germs making his stomach churn. But hunger was a powerful force, and he quickly devoured the fruit, savoring every bite.
As the night grew colder, Eugene huddled in a doorway, shivering uncontrollably. He pulled his tattered coat tighter around him, but it offered little protection against the biting wind. Sleep was elusive, his mind racing with thoughts of food and warmth. He dreamed of a feast, of tables laden with delicious dishes, their aromas filling the air. But when he woke, he was still alone, his stomach growling louder than ever.

The morning sun broke through the clouds, casting a harsh light on Eugene's gaunt face. He knew he had to find food, no matter the cost. With renewed determination, he set out on his search, his footsteps echoing through the deserted streets. As he walked, he couldn't help but think of the life he had once lived, a life filled with abundance and joy. Now, all he wanted was a simple meal, a chance to fill his empty stomach and feel human again.
A sudden wave of dizziness washed over him, and he stumbled against a nearby building. As he tried to regain his balance, he saw a vision of his past life. He was sitting at a lavish dinner table, surrounded by loved ones. The food was plentiful, the laughter hearty. But as the vision faded, he was left with a pang of longing and a sense of loss.
