Need a favor from you

Need a big favor from my network. Find me my next colleague.

Learning Motors has grown to 8 people. We are a small team of amazing folks including a trauma surgeon turned PM, doctor turned McKinsey consultant who realized its so much better operating :), a CTO who ran infra at Salesforce and can rattle off airplane specs by looking at them in flight, amazing engineers from Google, Salesforce, Samsung, and an incredible designer who started his career building speech recognition for Apple.

With all this firepower, we are building a very interesting new technology at the cusp of conversational voice, machine learning, consumer experience, and some serious engineering backend stack. We will be debuting our new brand/name and some early info on the company in a couple of months. So bear with us for being stealth!

In tech, you do not need a big team to make a lot of difference (look at WhatsApp). But every single person who joins you needs to be incredible. Also the first 10-15 folks in a company define its culture. They are the most important hires you can ever make, they are not just your colleagues but also co-owners of the company. So call us picky, but we are turning on all pipelines to ensure we can find the best talent out there.

Need 4-6 amazing engineers:

- Frontend

- Voice (NLU/NLP) stack

- Machine learning/Data

- Full stack

They need to be in or able to relocate to Bay Area/US since we are a bit away from our first international office.

Most importantly, they need to be someone who wants to build this company with us. They will help create the culture of the place, and will do a lot more than core engineering. They will participate in sales, BD, testing, pilots, setting up our new office, the sky is the limit. They will learn how to build a company from scratch. We will expose you to every aspect of company building, and lean on you to ensure we grow and win!

You, my network, can help us find these 6 amazing people. And anyone whose referral works, I promise to be personally indebted to you and be of any assistance possible.

Wow! What you're doing is Awesome. Maybe once started, you'll need an Human Resources team member or someone to train employees. I have Top Notch Customer Service Skills.... I am the WOW factor and although currently in Las Vegas, NV, I'm from the Bay Area and would definitely move back.

Punit, you may want to try a TED type video of you telling your corporate story and post it on social media More and more top executives are using social media daily. Good talent responds / crops up quickly to any opportunity your company offers. Ideally, moving forward you don’t want the CEOs talking about product. Instead, you want them talking more about lifestyle and building relationships. For example, in financial services, there’s Mark Casady, Chairman and CEO of LPL Financial. He writes his own content and stays away from talking about any sort of product or stock prices. He’s also a big Chicago Cubs fan. On social media, we saw a CEO in a baseball hat at the World Series, at America’s greatest pastime. And just for a day, he changed his cover photo while posting about the Cub’s win. That makes him relationship worthy and human."
