The Need For Energy Saving
The need for energy saving has increasingly come to the fore since the Kyoto Protocol with industry and individuals becoming more aware of its importance. A priority is to make a contribution to reducing the greenhouse gas CO2. Light and Sensor Technology provide a range of options to achieve energy savings with LED and Induction lighting and occupancy sensors to control lighting and air -conditioning.
Technical Advances:-
- Lamps with high luminous efficiency, no mercury and long life
- Luminaires with highly efficient diffusers
- High powered LED's with lenses
- Controlled light distribution to prevent wasted light
- Ability to adjust operating current
- Decrease in heat from the control gear and lamps
- Dimming of lamps with lux control or switching off lamps when lux is sufficient in an area
- Switching lamps and air-conditioning off when the area is vacated.
The benefits are:-
- The installation of less luminaires and lower capital project costs
- Less toxic waste
- Lower stock holdings of lamps and reduce cost of replacing lamps and gear
- Reduction in waste at landfill sites due to longer burning hours of lamps
- Decrease in heat and therefore a decrease in cost to cool air
- Only the required percentage of light is directed to the area required.
We maximise the potential energy savings to the full resulting in greater comfort, security, cash savings and environmental protection.
