The Need For Being U.M.D.A

The Need For Being U.M.D.A

Colleges & Universities are failing students in the acquisition of necessary skills to lock good careers especially when it comes to using specialized industry technology.

According to McGraw Hill Education’s 2017 Future Workforce Survey, fewer than half of college students today feel very or extremely prepared for their professional careers ahead and only thirty-seven percent acquired skills in industry technology, signifying a major problem with the way our colleges and universities are preparing students for the future.

It gets worse because according to The Graduate Market in 2017 – an annual report on universities and the employment market in Britain by High Fliers Research – two-fifths of recruiters hoped to attract more applicants for specific job functions, particularly those with engineering or other technical vacancies. Yet students are left to seek out internships and experiences outside of university walls to prepare them for the future.

Both industry & students thus are suffering.

With the labor landscape evolving, it’s more important than ever before to provide students with access to a myriad of relevant experiences both inside and outside the classroom to enable them to cope with real world requirements.

Until we can amend the current education model to include more hands-on industry training and skills, U.M.D.A (which means Finest In Arabic) has been setup to cater to one element of this initiative which enables student and professionals to learn from experts from top firms & organizations to be trained as “digital catalysts” to run their own businesses or work for established businesses and expedite their organization's adoption of digital technologies.

It's experiential learning which enables learners to refine their skillsets based on industry-relevant experience. The UMDA programs teachers students the entire workflows from strategy development to prototyping and branding in a hands-on environment which exposes learners to a real-life work environments and processes.

UMDA quintessentially brings together learners and businesses for a rich experience that benefits all involved. It's a movement towards building up skillsets in our young generations of learners and managers and to transform our businesses for the upcoming digital world.
