Nedstar newsletter - Sept/Oct 2023

In our aim to connect markets and supply our clients with the highest-quality ethanol, we have created this newsletter to update you on current developments at Nedstar and relevant market dynamics.

In this newsletter, we...

  • introduce you to Nedstar's newest hires
  • explain how the ethanol trade market is expected to develop after months of consistently dropping ethanol prices
  • highlight the newest addition to our product catalogue: light rum

Welcome our new colleagues!

With a very busy quarter approaching, we are excited to be able to bring new talent on board! Arman and Julius support the Logistics department, while Sebastian starts his graduation internship in the Commercial department. You may also see another new but familiar face: Dean, who was a student worker at Nedstar in 2021 and 2022, has graduated and is now back in his new role as Logistics Coordinator!

Market developments

The ethanol industry has gone into high season: companies are preparing for the December holidays, meaning an uptick in demand for products such as alcoholic beverages and screenwash. Freight prices have plateaued in the last weeks, which could contribute to stable ethanol pricing. With the latest low prices trend, it is the perfect timing to stock up on ethanol before the growing demand inflates the former.

Another market development that we monitor closely is the GSP+ trade status of Pakistan, a big supplier of ethanol, which expires at the end of 2023.? Losing its GSP+ status (which grants duty-free access into the EU to more than 66 per cent of goods) would mean a probable, steep increase in ethanol pricing for EU clients.

Order now to receive your product in Q4

Nedstar has been seeing a big rise in demand and expects more in the coming weeks leading up to December. If you want to place an order, consult our commercial experts in time.

Product spotlight: Light rum

As part of our expansion into the spirits market, Nedstar is now offering light rum. Light rum is usually unaged or aged for a short period of time and has a mild flavour profile often used in cocktails such as mojitos.
