NEC Energy Solutions starts-up battery storage system in Chile

Grid storage and battery system specialists NEC Energy Solutions has powered up a 2MW grid-connected battery for French multinational ENGIE in Chile.
The 2MWh system is connected to an existing substation in Arica, northern Chile, and will provide spinning reserve for the facility.
It also has capacity to provide other support services to help with the integration of solar and wind.
NEC Energy Solutions will also service and maintain the lithium ion battery storage system.
Since 2009, the company has installed a total of 32MW of grid energy storage in Chile.
