The European Commission has published the Erasmus+ 2025 call for proposals. Next year, the EU's Erasmus+ programme will allocate approximately €5 billion to support learning exchanges abroad and cooperation initiatives in education, training, youth, and sport. This represents a 6.5% increase in funding compared to last year
Since its launch in 1987, Erasmus+ has had over 16 million participants and continues to grow in demand. The programme also continues to expand in terms of access and inclusion for individuals with fewer opportunities, as aligned with the recently adopted Council recommendation on ‘Europe on the Move’ initiative, which sets ambitious targets for increasing mobility and participation, especially for underrepresented groups.
Erasmus+ will continue to support diverse cooperation models, including advancing the ‘Blueprint for a European degree’, supporting the automatic recognition of learning qualifications across borders, and enhancing cooperation between higher education institutions. Through its support for learning exchanges and collaboration, Erasmus+ is paving the way for a more integrated European education system.
Additionally, Erasmus+ remains committed to supporting Ukraine's education system, as well as learners and educators in Ukraine or having fled to the EU. In 2023, the programme funded the delivery of 500,000 Ukrainian-language schoolbooks, with a further 1 million books in subjects like art and computer science delivered in 2024. A third batch is planned for the 2025-2026 school year.

In line with the priority areas outlined in the Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027, the published calls encourage applications from a wide range of projects focusing on promoting social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and young people's participation in democratic life.
Any public or private body active in the fields of education, training, youth or sport can apply for funding, either via Erasmus+ National Agencies (in all EU Member States and countries associated with the programme) or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency. The total Erasmus+ budget for 2021-2027 is €26.2 billion, with an additional €2.2 billion from EU external instruments. Today's call for proposals follows the adoption of the 2025 work programme for Erasmus+ implementation.
