Nearly 12 months in...........

It's hard to believe that almost a year has passed since I started my business. My first batch of clients will soon be renewing their policies!

I just want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the tremendous support I've received since I launched Opal Black Insurance Services. This journey has been filled with challenges, but the encouragement from my network has made it all worthwhile.


Throughout this journey, I've learned a lot. Here are some valuable lessons I'd like to share with you:


1) People are eager to support new businesses.

I've been touched by the outpouring of support from people who are excited to see entrepreneurs take a leap of faith. This support has come in many forms, including referrals, word-of-mouth recommendations, and social media shares. It's a testament to the fact that people are inherently good and want to see others succeed.


2) SMEs often receive poor insurance advice.

I've seen firsthand how many small and medium-sized enterprises are getting bad advice when it comes to insurance. Many aren't receiving the coverage they need, or are being sold policies that don't suit their specific needs. It's important for business owners to work with insurance professionals who have the expertise to help them navigate the complexities of insurance and ensure that they are properly protected.


3) Clients appreciate personalised service and expertise.

My clients value the fact that they can pick up the phone and speak to someone who understands their needs. I take the time to get to know each of them, which has allowed me to build strong relationships and provide the level of service they deserve.

I've been told it's a breath of fresh air when most of the time they are treated like a very small number on a very large balance sheet!


4) Running a small business is challenging.

Starting and running a business is tough, and there are many obstacles to overcome. However, the sense of pride and accomplishment that comes from building something from scratch is truly priceless. I still get a thrill every time a new client comes on board.

Some weeks you think you've cracked it, the following week you may not get any enquiries. I've learned not to stress out about this too much. Stay consistent in the activities that add value to the business.

I'm incredibly grateful for the support I've received since launching Opal Black Insurance Services. It's a reminder that people are kind and generous, and it gives me the motivation to keep pushing forward.

Now, my next step is to get to a point where I can pay all my bills!
