In the near future all smartphones will be foldable

With design leaks and rumors out there about Google releasing a foldable phone as early as Fall 2023, it's only a matter of time before Apple gets into the mix. I predict 2024. Samsung is already on their fourth generation of foldables and currently has two on the market. One folds horizontally and opens into a small tablet form factor and the other folds vertically like a flip phone.

Apple typically waits for emerging technologies to solidify themselves and come down in wholesale price before releasing a new product. Although most haven't seen many foldable phones in the wild yet, they're coming. Apple's presumed release of their first will dramatically change the landscape (no pun intended) of the smartphone market.

Plan on paying close to $2000 for the upcoming Google and Apple phones. Google's upcoming Pixel foldable is rumored to be ~$1800. Samsung's costs $1600+ for the Fold 4, and $1000+ for the less popular and smaller Flip 4.
