NDC Polipak's Sustainable Solutions to address the environmental burden of Virgin Plastics
NDC Polipak
Manufacturing & distributing a wide range of packaging solutions, polythene damp proofing & building accessories.
In today's environmentally conscious world, the debate between recycled and virgin plastics has gained significant attention.
A study previously conducted by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) compared the energy expended during manufacturing & transportation for different types of plastic pellets, specifically PET, HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) and PP (Polypropylene), manufactured from virgin resin and recycled resin. 1
Overall the study found that using recycled resins vs virgin resins reduced expended energy by 35-60% during manufacturing. In addition, it found that using recycled resins could reduce CO2 emissions by 60-70%. Hence there are significant commercial and environmental benefits to using recycled raw materials.
In light of greenhouse gas emissions targets and recognising the burden of using virgin films in the production line of plastic packaging, the UK introduced last year a tax on materials containing less than 30% recycled content. The rate was further increased this year. 2
NDC Polipak fully embraces #sustainability practices throughout the manufacturing lifecycle and offers comprehensive recycling services. Through their #recycling services and commitment to incorporating recycled content into their products, NDC Polipak offers responsible alternatives that address the environmental concerns associated with plastic materials.
NDC is Environmental Agency Accredited and its facility has a recycling capacity in excess of 10,000 mt annually. In addition to combat the UK’s Plastic Tax the company introduced a line of products specifically aimed at ensuring its customers can remain compliant. Its range of damp proof membranes is manufactured from 100% recycled polyethylene.
By choosing NDC Polipak, builders, contractors, and individuals can actively contribute to a more eco-friendly construction industry while maintaining the highest quality standards in their projects.
