Journey of NCSTCP over 15 years - 15 landmarks

?Various factors collectively contribute to successful #project management. These factors includes using the resources judiciously, a simplified decision-making process, meeting the time-frames and customer requirements, existence of steering/guiding committee, and existence of project manager with defined task description. National Certification System for Tissue Culture Plants (@NCSTCP) can be considered a successful model of project management. During my tenure as the Principal Investigator (PI) of NCS-TCP, utmost care was taken to process applications on time for expeditious decisions. Cost/expenditure management was done through organizing multiple visits in a row to reduce the logistic cost and pooling of samples were adopted to reduce the cost of reagents towards? testing and certification. By various measures, NCS-TCP attained almost level of self-sustenance which is important for such government supported multi-stakeholders programme.

Attaining self-sustenance of multi-institutional government supported national level activities being operated in a project mode is a good outcome which was appreciated by the authorities on record. I am happy to extend mentoring to tissue culture companies throughout the process of their recognition, renewal and certification of their produce is an important aspect of this programme. Proactive initiatives such as developing standards for new plant species, virtual visits, random visits, annual self-assessment, monthly feedback system etc played crucial role in stakeholder’s engagement?
