NCCPA Answers Your PANRE-LA Questions
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
NCCPA: Certification. Excellence. NCCPA is the only credentialing organization for PAs in the U.S.
Whether you’re currently taking PANRE-LA or considering applying for it, NCCPA understands you may have questions. Below are some common questions we hear from Board Certified PAs:
“How many questions do I have to answer correctly to pass?”?
Like the proctored exams, PANRE-LA is scored on a scale that accounts for the relative difficulty of the questions an individual PA receives. That means that the passing standard is not tied to a set raw score or percent correct – it will be different for each participant, depending on the questions they receive. Your final score will be based on your cumulative performance across 8-12 quarters. In other words, you don’t need to meet the passing standard each quarter.?
Starting in the second quarter, 5 topics are repeated to reinforce existing knowledge and facilitate learning. In these cases, the better of the two responses is counted and the other response is removed from the score. This provides opportunities to improve your performance over time. We recommend reviewing your “PANRE-LA Item History” from time to time, paying closer attention to questions you answered incorrectly.?
"What happens if I lose internet connection while answering a PANRE-LA question?"?
If you’re worried about internet connection issues, we recommend selecting the answer you think is correct early in the timer, then taking the remaining time to consult your print or online resources to confirm your answer. This answer will be saved if you suddenly lose internet connection.?
Should disconnection occur, try and log back in quickly, especially if there is time remaining on the question timer. The timer will not stop counting down when disconnection occurs and you will be brought back into the question – you may still have time to select and submit a response.?
