NCBA Golf Series: Uniting East Africa Through Golf

In 2024, NCBA Bank launched the NCBA Golf Series, a premier golfing event that spans across golf clubs in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The series, which comprises 23 legs, aims to inspire passion, foster talent, and strengthen bonds across borders, ultimately contributing to the growth and vibrancy of the golfing community in East Africa.

NCBA's investment in the 2024 NCBA Golf Series, Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series, and Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) Series totals Sh60 million. This significant financial support underscores the bank's unwavering commitment to the sport of golf and its development in the region.

Nurturing Young Talent: NCBA's Support for Junior Golf

In addition to the amateur qualifier events, NCBA Bank, in partnership with Kenya's Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), hosts three junior tournaments in Nakuru Golf Club, Nanyuki Sports Club, and Western. These events provide a platform for young talent to showcase their skills and passion for the sport, further fueling the growth of local golfing talent in Kenya and across East Africa.

NCBA's partnership with JGF is valued at Sh12 million, which facilitates junior golf tournaments throughout the year. The bank's commitment to nurturing young talent in the sport is a testament to its belief in the transformative power of golf in shaping the lives of future generations.

Empowering Communities: NCBA's Holistic Approach

NCBA Bank's support for golf development is part of its broader sustainability platform, "Change the Story," which aims to drive positive change in society. Under this platform, the bank has launched various initiatives that positively impact vulnerable communities, reduce inequalities, promote gender equality and equity, and empower the youth.

In Tanzania, NCBA's dedication to supporting women and youth is evidenced by sponsorships totaling TZS 7.9 million, ranging from innovative events like the Her Initiative Panda Event to contributions to the Tanzania junior golf team. The bank also sponsors the Women on Board Network Awards, which celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to gender diversity and inclusion.

Investing in Education: NCBA's Scholarship Program

NCBA Bank's commitment to community empowerment extends beyond sports. In 2023, the bank sponsored 100 students with an investment of Ksh 11.1 million for education scholarships. Over the past sixteen years, NCBA has invested over Ksh 100 million in the scholarship program, providing continuous education to students in need.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, textbooks, uniforms, and dormitory supplies, while also providing mentorship and coaching to equip students with the necessary tools to succeed. This initiative aligns with the national agenda of prioritizing education and training as a vehicle to drive Kenya into a middle-income country.

NCBA Bank's contributions to golf development and community empowerment in Kenya demonstrate its commitment to making a positive impact on society. Through its partnerships, sponsorships, and various initiatives, the bank continues to inspire passion, foster talent, and strengthen bonds across communities. As NCBA Bank expands its regional reach, its efforts in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development serve as a model for other corporate entities to emulate.
