NCA convention brings a Virtual World of Possibilities

NCA convention brings a Virtual World of Possibilities

This week is one of NCA’s biggest of the year, when we host coffee’s premier event - our annual convention. This year’s theme is “A World of Possibilities,” and we’ve spent the last months seeking out the foremost coffee experts, perfecting session content, and building unique networking and social opportunities into our innovative digital platform.?

Our 2021 convention proved that online conventions can not only work but actually add amazing new value. While we look forward to future in-person events, we remain convinced that in the current environment, this year’s convention gives our community the same great opportunities to learn and connect while staying safe.?

Coming out of the challenges of the last two years, our theme? “A World of Possibilities” couldn’t be more appropriate. This year and the years ahead truly offer everyone in the coffee community new ways to think about building back better than ever before. I’ll overview the “State of the Association,” and our dozens of interactive sessions will consolidate lessons learned from the pandemic, explore current and emerging opportunities, and springboard into the future of coffee.

The unmatched content we have planned for the convention includes:

  • An exclusive preview of our Spring 2022 National Coffee Data Trends consumer polling and report. Get a heads up on the rich NCDT’s rich data before it is released following the convention.
  • Scott Clemons, Chief Investment Strategist at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., returns to share his always-popular vision for coffee’s future.
  • Chef Jeff Henderson, Celebrity Chef, Star of “Flip my Food with Chef Jeff” & Author of If You Can See It, You Can Be It, will inspire attendees by sharing his personal and professional journey from federal prison to world-renowned kitchens and explore how to disrupt workplace bias.
  • Erica Dhawan, internationally recognized speaker and author of Get Big Things Done: The Power of Connectional Intelligence and Digital Body Language: How to Build Trust and Connection, No Matter the Distance, will explore how to foster connection, build trust, and drive innovation in digital settings.?
  • Drew Lerner, founder and president of World Weather Inc., will discuss climate trends and seasonal outlooks for coffee producing countries, answering questions ranging from freezing conditions in Brazil to whether this year will see the return of el Ni?o.

The convention is also a time to honor leaders in our coffee community like NCA’s Volunteer of the Year G. Scott Clemons and NCA’s Charity of the Year the Seed for Progress Foundation, which focuses on education and health services to strengthen Nicaragua’s coffee growing communities. We are also posthumously recognizing our friend and colleague the late Bill Cortner with NCA’s Distinguished Leader award.

Content will be available online and on demand for 30 days after the convention, giving participants the opportunity to watch and rewatch content on their own schedule from anywhere in the world.?

Our virtual convention packages also offer a cost-effective way for groups to access this valuable programming and network with peers.?

We look forward to seeing you at the convention online this year and hope we’ll see all our coffee colleagues in person again soon.

Virtual meetings, conferences, and, of course, conventions are here to stay. The pandemic might have made more and more embrace them, but their utility has been demonstrated. And once that happens, things take root.William Murray
