NBL’s Technological Leap Empowers SMEs in Namibia

NBL’s Technological Leap Empowers SMEs in Namibia

It gives us immense pleasure to exercise our commitment towards the sustainable growth of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The recent launch of our Transport Management System (TMS) stands as a shining example of our dedication to making a positive impact beyond our core business.

?

Our priority, from the onset of developing our in-house TMS, was to actively engage local transport companies to ensure a sense of ownership in the success of this project. By collecting and understanding their expertise and challenges, we were able to design our TMS to advance their efforts, which in turn furthers our ambitions.

?

This collaboration with SMEs has had a dual impact: injecting capital into the local economy and creating valuable employment opportunities. This, therefore, stimulates job growth and promotes skills development across the communities in which we operate. We are delighted to have, to date, onboarded a total of eighty-two local transporting companies who have become an integral part of this endeavour.

?

As we move forward, our dedication to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships remains unwavering. While we are driven to maximise cost efficiencies, we draw great inspiration from contributing to the prosperity of our communities, and to empowering SMEs to thrive.

?

Says, NBL Managing Director Peter Simons: "Given the significant role that SMEs play in our economy, it is critical that we empower them and unlock more opportunities for them. It is what makes this innovative system a game-changer. It enables NBL and local transporting companies to collaborate more efficiently, streamline both our supply chains, and meet the increasing demands of our customers, together.

?

By leveraging the TMS’ advanced features, such as optimised routing, load consolidation, and efficient resource allocation, we anticipate significant cost savings in transportation on the NBL end and an SME community that is empowered to generate even more employment."

?

Underscoring Peter’s remarks, Maryke Serdyn, Manager: Transport shared, “The journey ahead is an exciting one, and we are determined to lead the way in embracing innovative solutions that benefit not only NBL but also our valuable SME partners.”

?

Lucas Hangalo of Onni Transport cc commended NBL for empowering SMEs and enabling entrepreneurs to sustainably contribute to the economy through its TMS project. Hangalo added: “This is truly a great initiative. So far, the experience has been positive; the NBL team has been very helpful by guiding and always assisting us. The process flow is running smoothly, and the system has enabled an opportunity to plan and allocate resources more efficiently.”

?

As we celebrate this milestone, we eagerly anticipate the positive impact our TMS will have on local SMEs, employment generation, and economic growth. Namibia's SMEs are the backbone of our community, and by empowering them, we build a stronger, more vibrant future for all.

?

Kudos to our project team, the Customer Service, Logistics Planning (CSLP) department; your unwavering commitment and expertise have been instrumental in the successful deployment of this transformative solution that enhances growth-at-home.
