Navigating Workplace Trauma

You Never Know When It’s Going to Happen: Navigating Workplace Trauma

Workplace trauma can emerge in the most unexpected moments. Even the most well-intentioned co-worker or manager can say or do something that leaves a lasting impact. For many of us, this trauma is not just an isolated incident; it permeates our daily lives and can affect our mental well-being, productivity, and overall sense of safety in our work environments.

As a Black woman and lawyer who has faced trauma from Legal Teams, HR Director, HR Representatives, and managers, I intimately understand the unique challenges we encounter. I've walked the path of being the solo voice for myself when my allies stood silent. Yet, God was on my side. I experienced the empowering journey of advocating for myself because they ALL learned a hard lesson from yours truly: our voices matter, and we deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

Today I see how my experiences sharpened me to become one of the highly effective Global DEI Leaders who guides C Suite Executives, Boards and employers to course correct, build accountable cultures and lead outcomes for all diverse talent and women, especially Black women and moms.

Now, it’s your turn.

We have the power to advocate for yourself and create a more supportive workplace environment.

Such an important conversation LaTonya. For many, these traumatic workplace experiences can develop into or exacerbate existing mental health conditions such as PTSD ??????
