No Chance Of Play This Week!

Navigating Weather Conditions and Preparing for Grand Openings

As I sit down to pen this week's blog, I find myself reflecting again on the challenges we've faced due to the relentless weather conditions. It's been a season like no other, with the incessant rain causing significant issues with our pitch's play-ability. Unfortunately, this led to the cancellation of our first team and our development side's games this week. However, amidst the adversity, our open-aged ladies' team managed to secure a resounding 4-1 cup quarter final victory against Norton Woodseats on the 3G pitch at the local school on Sunday.

Off the pitch, it's been a week of final preparations for the grand opening of our new catering unit. I'm pleased to report that we are on track for Saturday's game, and I couldn't be prouder of the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition.

Monday was a day after work dedicated to financial review and settling outstanding bills, and I also had a casual catch-up with some of our dedicated volunteers over a lunchtime coffee at the ground during my lunch hour from work.

On Tuesday evening, I embarked on a mission to procure a till for our new catering unit, managing to find a cost-effective solution that will serve our needs effectively.

Wednesday evening was spent exploring avenues to drive savings on the club's attire and kit spend, resulting in a fruitful negotiation with a kit supplier in India.

Thursday saw the final touches being put on the catering unit by our groundsman and electrician, while I busied myself with sourcing the last few materials and supplies needed for the project.

Friday brought exchanged texts with the first team manager, who unfortunately had been unwell all week, casting doubt on his attendance at the weekend's game. Despite his illness, it was the unpredictable weather that ultimately led to the game's cancellation.

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of watching the ladies' game and this week has also seen me overseeing a player release from our development team to league leaders Dearn & District, a trip to IKEA to pick up some new chairs and we took the opportunity with having no game to have a thorough spring clean of the stadium and facilities.

Looking ahead, I'm gearing up for Tuesday evening's trip to Silsden for the first team game and preparing for the much-anticipated clash against Thackley at home over the weekend, where we will unveil the new catering unit.

Finally thank you as always for following me and the club on this journey, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you next week.
