Innovative Design Thinking: A Case Study
Allow me to illustrate my approach with an example from my past projects. When tasked with designing a retail lighting showroom, conventional wisdom would suggest creating an environment with floor-to-ceiling lighting displays. Instead, I envisioned and implemented a minimalist design for six retail locations, aiming to create a museum-like atmosphere.
This approach focused on showcasing primary lighting models in all white or clear glass, complemented by material samples. The goal was to free the consumer's or designer's mind to imagine and create. Rather than employing showroom agents, we hired hand-drawing artists to "hand draw your dream fixture." This unique service allowed customers to see their ideas come to life on paper, which our design team then transformed into detailed line drawings, renderings, and pricing.
The result was a showroom that offered a high-end, refined experience, encouraging creativity and customization. Our sales strategy focused on custom orders and exceeded market expectations, demonstrating the power of innovative, customer-focused design.
