?? Navigating the Tech Waters - Discover Your Ultimate Goal! ??

Often I get this question: “ Okare Shaba I want to come into tech, but I don’t know where to start”

often gurus jump straight into answering the questions and tell you about the no code or coding part or non coding part from their own perspective: but not me- let me take you on the journey of how I handle this question.

Sharing experience back to where it all started, but this time, let's talk about how you can begin your tech adventure.

?? The Journey Begins:

Tech, is like an ocean of water, ever changing so fast ?? faster than you can finishing reading this newsletter. By the time you are done, #ChatGPT would have released a new update, or Microsoft would tell you to update your windows to a new version or even your iPhone would pop up a new update. So yes that’s the endless frontier of tech ecosystem. Very dynamic and ever changing.

You need someone to pull you up else you feel you are drowning - you need a mentor or a coach.

But let’s pause there and ask a very important question.??

In this whole Tech bubble ??, Have you ever taken a step back to chart your course in this ever-evolving landscape?

1. Where in this ecosystem do I see myself playing?

This question needs to be answered by you based on your strength, weaknesses and the opportunities around you and your interest

This should not be based on someone close to you.

Everyone is on their own individual journey.

Though I’m a triplet. My siblings and I have different journeys regardless of sharing the same womb.

After you have answered that

2. Defining your long-term tech goals.

It often feels like we're drowning in choices, doesn't it? Tech's rapid growth offers boundless opportunities, but it can also overwhelm. The problem is, how do you know where to aim if you don't have a destination in mind?

?? My approach:

There are different ways to look at this, Let’s me give an example: imagine you are in a quaint coastal town or Ibadan (the largest city in west Africa housing the first university in west Africa). Just graduated from school and every one is heading to Lagos the land of opportunities Imagine you're in a boat.

You can see different opportunities on the horizon, each representing a tech domain. But one, in particular, has a unique lighthouse, a North Star guiding your way. I call it The Star of Clarity: It might be becoming a leading AI expert, building your startup empire, or revolutionizing healthcare with tech innovations. It's the star that drives your choices, courses, and actions in tech's ecosystem.

?? The Path of Purpose:

Defining your long-term tech goal is the anchor that keeps you from drifting in tech's sea of options. It provides direction, meaning, and impact. It's not a destination; it's a guiding star in your tech journey. Find a mentor or a coach and fight your good fight of tech.
