Navigating the Sales Landscape: A Journey of Growth and Learning as a Sales Operations Management Intern at PRPL

As I reflect on my journey as a Sales Operation Management Intern at PRAKASH RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED , I am reminded of the words of legendary author, J.R.R. Tolkien, "Not all who wander are lost." This experience has been nothing short of a thrilling adventure, filled with valuable lessons and unforgettable memories.
I worked at PRAKASH RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED for 3 months starting in October, and it was a period with numerous lessons to be remembered ahead for my career development. The company runs a retail store 'Harsha', dealing in consumer durables and offering a wide range of quality products (for example, electronics, home appliances, kitchen appliances, kitchenware, etc.) and services.
From day one, I was determined to make the most out of this opportunity and learn everything I could. With the guidance of my amazing team and the support of my mentors, I was able to dive deep into the world of sales operations and gain a comprehensive understanding of its intricate workings.
I was given the chance to work on various projects (for example: daily sales operations, bridging gaps in customer experience, Service Blueprint, etc.) that challenged me to think critically and creatively. Every day was a new puzzle to solve, and I loved every minute of it. But what truly made this internship special was the people I worked with. The camaraderie and team spirit were infectious. I was constantly inspired by my colleagues' passion, dedication, and expertise, and it motivated me to push myself further. Also, I cannot emphasize more on how lucky I found myself to be working when the company launched their 17th retail store (3rd in Mangalore) in the month of November. This allowed me to have a clear view of operations from the very beginning of its function, and how there are changes or improvements made gradually.

One significant observation I made during my time at PRPL was the attention given to employee satisfaction. Several schemes and goals were set for all to achieve or exceed, for which they would be rewarded accordingly. The employees too worked with all their hearts by meeting their requirements, also suggesting HO where certain gaps could be bridged, etc. Not only that, the store manager helps his employees with any difficulties faced in their sales work and also conducts certain live product demonstrations with the help of roleplaying that would allow the entire team to have a look at how their colleagues work and also provide suggestions for any need of improvement (or provide a sense of appreciation for doing a good job). Even the HR makes sure to listen to their employee's grievances or suggestions, and then act accordingly. This is something every individual expects from their working environment. We have all heard of Harsha providing best-in-class customer experience, but in the back end, they also focus on keeping their employees happy and ready for the day's work.
As my internship comes to an end, I am grateful for the invaluable lessons and experiences I have gained. I have not only honed my skills in sales operations but have also grown both personally and professionally. I can't thank Samruddh . Sir enough for providing me this opportunity to learn more about sales and the management and operations behind it. This opportunity allowed me to open up my mind to a broader perspective of sales and also allowed me to apply my skills and knowledge practically. I thank PRAKASH RETAIL PRIVATE LIMITED for giving me this opportunity to work with you. I also extend my gratitude to my faculty mentor Professor Binita Vartak for providing me the guidance that I needed throughout this internship. Lastly, I want to thank Professor Edwin Moses for enhancing my management skills and knowledge in the field of sales. I truly had the privilege to learn under great professors in the Sales and Service Career Track, which helped me excel in this internship.
