Navigating Salary Expectations: Dealing with Discrepancies and Confusion"

Sitting in the bubble tea shop waiting for clients, I arrived early and happened to overhear a group of young people complaining. They were discussing work, life, and salaries. One of them said, "Fainted, an internship salary of only 3000 yuan a month, how can that be enough to spend?"

This remark plunged me into deep thought. It reminded me of my first job interview. At that time, I walked into the interview room full of confidence, expecting to land a satisfactory job with a decent salary. However, when it came to the question of salary, I found a huge gap between my expectations and the reality.

In the final stage of the interview, the interviewer asked, "Regarding salary, what are your expectations?" I pondered for a moment, then gave a figure I thought was reasonable. However, when the interviewer presented the company's salary offer, my mood began to darken. The offer was far below what I had expected, leaving me feeling disappointed.

Back home, I sat on the edge of my bed, wrestling with the issue. "Why am I feeling so disappointed?" I wondered. "Is it because I'm being greedy? Or have I misjudged my own worth?" I felt thoroughly confused.

The next day, I decided to seek advice from my senior sister Lily. Lily is a seasoned HR professional with extensive experience and a deep understanding of salary negotiations. "Lily, I interviewed with a company yesterday, and their salary offer was far below my expectations," I said.

Lily smiled after hearing me out. "Hmm, I understand how you feel. But remember, salary negotiation is an art that requires careful preparation and strategy. First, you need to understand industry standards and the salary levels of the company. Second, you need to have a clear understanding of your own value and the courage and confidence to advocate for better terms."

"I see," I nodded. "Thank you for your advice, Lily. I'll prepare well for the next interview."

Over the next few days, I spent a considerable amount of time researching industry salary standards and carefully evaluating my skills and experience. When I was ready for the next interview, I felt more confident and determined.

During the interview, when the interviewer asked about salary again, I confidently expressed my expectations and presented my reasons and value. The interviewer was impressed by my confidence and clear thinking. In the end, the company offered a salary package that was more in line with my expectations.

Through this experience, I learned an important lesson: to have the courage and confidence to advocate for better terms. I also realized that salary negotiation is an art that requires careful preparation and strategy, but with the right attitude and preparation, everything can be negotiated.

Now, I've been working at this company specializing in customized luggage for six years. Not only have I seen a rise in salary, but I've also had the privilege of making friends from all over the world. I consider myself extremely fortunate.

If yo have friends who are interested in the customized bag business, email me at [email protected] or WhatsApp at +86 17706093607.

LOL: Attached is one pic with my Italian friends.
