Navigating the Roles of a Working Mom
On my days off, I prioritize quality time with my children, discussing and planning our week ahead. I manage everyone’s schedules through calendar organization, including academics, extracurriculars, my work, and personal tasks, helps alleviate anxiety and ensures a smoother, well-coordinated week. Weekends involve early mornings for family preparations, with activities chosen by the kids, occasional visits to extended family, and regular Sunday mass attendance.
Being a wife, mother, and career woman can be challenging sometimes, especially when achieving an effective work-life balance. Juggling these roles sometimes leads to stress and guilt - I would question myself if I'm doing enough for my family. In such moments, I acknowledge that I don’t have to be perfectly balanced; understanding that some days will demand more work focus, while others require prioritizing family.
A lesson learned in this journey is that it takes a village to raise a child. There are times when I needed to be away from my children and this has taught me to choose my village wisely. To have a tribe or team who’s a solid support system allows me to seamlessly bridge work and family.
With the support of my husband, family, and friends, I know that I don’t need to worry every time my career demands my utmost focus. I’m always assured that my kids are in good hands. I can also say that Asticom is part of that village. Asticom allows me to manage the many different hats that I'm wearing and find my stride that is suited to my goals and personal needs.
A guiding mantra in my life is the realization that my kids are watching. This prompts me to understand that my role extends beyond providing for them; it involves modeling the behavior I wish to see in them. During challenging moments, I actively strive to showcase resilience, emphasizing the significance of effort, growth, and perseverance over mere success.
Acknowledging the challenges of being a working mom, I encourage fellow women to pace themselves, focusing on the positives, taking each day as it comes, and finding strength in prayer. Sometimes, it's tempting to dwell on the negatives, but staying mindful is key. Remember, we hold the power to create our next happy moment.
