Navigating a Rapidly Changing Job Market

Last week I talked with a career-coaching client about their job search. The person mentioned how the requirements for targeted jobs had changed quite a bit in the last two years. Specifically, the required technical skills had expanded. For the same roles, job titles, and compensation, hiring managers are now asking for a LOT MORE!
Why is this happening? In part, it's because hiring managers often ask for the sun, moon, and stars in a job description, hoping to hire a person who can do more than one job at a time. Another reason is the slowing job market. Fewer openings means more candidates responding to postings, and hiring managers look for ways to identify the most qualified candidates. That leads to inflated job requirements or, in my client's case, added skill requirements.
I'll help my client navigate these changes, and they will find a great job!
