If you're looking for short terms results, you'll be disappointed. If you're willing to play the long game, it will pay off. And that includes clients - connect and follow them on LinkedIn - comment on posts they make on LinkedIn, wish them a happy birthday or work anniversary, congratulate them when they post an achievement.
