Navigating Liquid Risks: A Journey Through Uncertainty

Navigating Liquid Risks: A Journey Through Uncertainty

In recent weeks, I've been absent from my blog, mainly due to the final review process for the English version of Liquid Risks, which is already set to go on sale on Amazon. This is my first opportunity to publish in another language and for an audience in a different market, which presents a dual challenge for me. Still, at the same time, I'm very excited to explore and share these reflections on liquid risks now in English.

In the two years since the original Spanish publication, so many relevant events have emerged that I decided to add two chapters and an epilogue to the text, practically making it a new book. While the core ideas and chapters are identical, this addition improves and "grounds" the concepts. The latest chapters are called From The Matrix to Liquid Wars and Life with an Artificial Allien. I also wrote an epilogue to gather various ideas and thoughts that have arisen during these two years as a result of discussions, which I considered helpful to add so that the reader can have additional tools to navigate the liquid world and its risks.

As you can see, Liquid Risks is a translation and an expanded and updated edition. I must thank my friends Lorenzo Dávalos for accepting the challenge of translation and editing and Luis Emilio Bruni for updating the prologue he had already written in Spanish for the original version. Upon concluding this new editorial experiment, which helped me reread and reflect more deeply on several of the book's concepts and approaches, Lorenzo and I came up with the idea of writing a new liquid essay in the short term, perhaps more oriented toward solutions applied to organizations and governments that can become strategies and public policies adapted to these uncertain and complex times. I hope to progress in this direction soon, although I still need more “mental” time to bring the conceptual framework to a more operational level.

It's worth saying that risks are always a probability, and today, more than ever, the possibility of having a better world depends entirely on us. Humanity is not predetermined for a catastrophic destiny, but the magnitude of the risks has long surpassed our ability to mitigate them; now, it is urgent to master them; otherwise, we will live with the sword of Damocles ever closer to our heads. Liquid risks are embedded in a no longer fixed and immutable reality. Instead, it appears as a constant flux and evolution phenomenon where nothing remains static for long. It is a continuous process of transformation that makes previous states obsolete and future developments unpredictable.

While a new mindset is indispensable for facing liquid risks, successfully navigating them requires awareness and a strategic framework. This work is a lifeline that will help prevent us from shipwrecking in these turbulent waters. In my coming articles, I will discuss liquid risks more; in the meantime, I would love to receive honest reviews about the book. I hope you enjoy it.
