The GPT store is creating waves and enterprises are keen to understand how to leverage the GPT store safely without compromising their business data. After a few days of playing around with the GPT store, here are a few do's and don'ts that I've compiled.
?
First & the most important principle – assume every document that you upload or every conversation that you have with the GPTs will become public. Keep that in mind and put the necessary SOPs in your company before you get started. Also, be very careful before releasing any public (customer or partner) facing Gen AI apps built on the GPT store apps yet. There are issues around data security, hallucination, bias, IP confidentiality etc. that still need to be sorted out with public models. Your best bet is to build a proprietary Gen AI app for the public-facing use cases where you have much greater control.
So, what can you do with the GPTs on the GPT store, now? You can use it to experiment & understand the different use cases applicable to your business. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
a.?????? Marketing – Imagine generating creatives (images, videos etc.) in minutes instead of days using Dall-E or MidJourney. You can use prompt creation helper GPTs to generate prompts for high-quality images. Another way to super-charge your content marketing efforts is by automatically generating blogs, video content, podcasts etc. from text using GPTs. You can also improve the quality of your creatives using AI tools – for issues like noise suppression for videos. You could invest more time in generating public market outreach content for say universities, or partners etc. for brand building.
?
b.?????? Internal IT teams – Internal IT teams can start experimenting with GPTs for unit testing, regression testing, and scenario testing. They can also start learning new languages like Rust which are hard to learn. Be super careful though. Don't expose your IP code. Assume anything you upload will be public.
?
c.?????? Data analysts – GPTs have released some fascinating multi-modal analysis capabilities where you can upload sample data and the model can mash it with publicly available data to auto-generate insights for you. As an example, for new market expansion in say pharma – you can analyze the particular disease existence in a country, the insurance model, medical infrastructure rankings, the availability & price points of competitive drugs, regulatory news etc. to do a market entry feasibility for you. This entire analysis can be done using publicly available data which the GPT can analyze and correlate for you. This process could take you months but a GPT can potentially do this for you in minutes. Use it to battle-test your plans but be aware of confidentiality issues.
?
d.?????? Research assistant – You can use the GPTs as a research assistant for deep research in a niche area. E.g. use GPTs like Consensus to research 200 Million+ academic papers to stay updated with new research in your industry or functional area like manufacturing techniques, drug discovery etc.

e.?????? Translate public videos in different languages – Imagine being able to translate your product training videos in 100+ languages at the click of a button. Imagine the leap in market reach and the number of new partners you can get immediately in new markets. You can translate repair videos into local languages to help field engineers (own or partner) repair your product better leading to higher sales.
?
f.??????? Personalized tutor to help you and your team learn new skills – You can use GPTs to pick up a new language, learn new technologies, build depth in upcoming topics like ESG etc. GPT tutors can offer personalized learning, personalized quizzes and crafted scenarios to your team to help them test their knowledge. This will allow you to learn new skills without worrying about a lack of training budgets.
?
g.?????? Internal team building sessions – You can also use GPTs to have fun in the office! You could play games crafted by GPTs, create memes & avatars for Fun Friday sessions and also design birthday cards.
?
Once you’ve performed low-risk experiments with GPTs in the GPT store, you should be able to imagine high-impact areas for AI in your business. That’s the time to start building an internal GPT and a GPT store for your enterprise. Happy experimenting!

1 年Great post Umang Varma As you mentioned, building proprietary AI applications for public-facing use cases may be a better option as it provides greater control over data security and privacy. This can be especially important in industries where confidentiality is critical, such as healthcare or finance. The GPT store offers a fantastic opportunity to explore the capabilities of AI and identify potential use cases for businesses.
Data security and confidentiality are critical concerns when using any public AI models, including those on the GPT store. Assuming that any information provided to these models could become public is a prudent approach that can help prevent data breaches or other security issues. Implementing robust security protocols and guidelines within your organization is crucial before utilizing any public AI models. This can include developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and establishing clear guidelines for handling sensitive information.
