Navigating the Future: Building Resilient Organizations in the Era of Disruptions

As the CHRO of one of India’s leading PropTech companies, I find myself at the forefront of guiding our organization through the ever-changing landscape of the business world. In recent years, the saying, 'Change is the only constant,' has gained a profound significance, driven by two major disruptions – the pandemic and the accelerating impact of artificial intelligence (AI) coupled with digital transformation. In this blog, I explore strategies organizations across various industries should prioritize to fortify themselves against disruptions and potential organizational models for the future.
1. Agility as a Pillar of Resilience:
The pandemic was a wake-up call, highlighting the crucial need to pivot quickly. Research by McKinsey and Company on organizational resilience underscores that companies capable of adapting swiftly to change are better positioned to thrive. As our world continues to evolve, I advocate embedding agility into organizational DNA, fostering a culture that encourages experimentation, learning from failures, and rapid decision-making.
2. Going Digital for the Long Haul:
The pandemic emphasized the significance of digital transformation in sustaining business operations. We, like many others, felt the impact, but it became clear that organizations with higher digital maturity or the ability to quickly adapt to new tech weathered the storm better. In the era of AI, technology becomes an enabler, and my view is that organizations must continue investing in technology, automation, and data analytics to stay competitive and relevant.
3. Data-Based Decision Making:
Data is our new ally. Decisions based on data reduce subjectivity and bias, linking strategy to business outcomes and measuring effectiveness. Today's technology enables us to achieve that, and as AI becomes more sophisticated, we will gain even deeper insights and make more informed decisions based on evidence.

4. Embracing the Hybrid Work Life:
The pandemic prompted a massive shift towards remote work. I believe that, in the future, the hybrid model, combining remote and in-office work, is likely to stay. However, evolving business needs may prompt organizations to re-evaluate these models. What will remain constant is the technology that supports seamless collaboration across geographically dispersed teams.
5. Foster a Learning Culture:
Continuous learning is becoming a lifestyle. To build resilience against disruptions, organizations must instill and promote a strong learning culture, encouraging employees to acquire new skills and adapt to evolving technologies. Investing in training and development is an investment in the organization's future resilience. 6. People First:
Amidst technological advancements, the human element remains paramount. I firmly believe that building resilience starts with taking care of your people and paying attention to the employee experience. At REA India, we prioritize people's well-being by offering flexible work arrangements, wellness policies, mental and physical health support, and focus on enhancing every moment that matters. Organizations that prioritize their people are more likely to attract and retain top talent, a critical factor in resilience.
The past three years have been a crucible of change, pushing individuals and organizations to adapt and evolve at an unprecedented pace. To thrive in the face of disruptions, organizations must prioritize agility, embrace digital transformation, and, foremost, take care of their people. Success in the future will belong to organizations that embrace change and proactively shape it to their advantage.
