Navigating Fleet Adjustments as a Result of Recent Industry Developments

Global Sales & Marketing Leader - As an experienced business development leader across multiple organizations, in highly regulated industries, I help navigate complex go-to-market strategies effectively.
Recent announcements concerning specific airframe/engine combinations have come down as “Final” airworthiness directives by EASE/FAA and prompted by “reports of two engine in-flight shutdowns (IFSDs) and two rejected takeoffs.”
The engine manufacturer recently issued a “revised configuration” to “solve the issue which is related to a knife-edge seal in the high-pressure compressor aft hub on the engine.
Inevitably the issues will be resolved and delivery of new aircraft with the engine configuration will be resumed but we are already seeing disruption in the rapidly growing commercial aviation space. Operators have either been forced to scale back planned operations, converted orders back to the classic engine option or are looking at other options to service customer demand in the interim. Those operators who are staying the course are currently being required to de-couple the affected engines which will lead to increased oversight throughout the life of the asset.
