Navigating Entrepreneurship: Finding Support and Accountability on your Journey

Cultivating a community for women in their 20s to navigate adulthood together??
Surviving in today’s world is an uphill battle, an exhausting marathon that tests the limits of our strength and resilience. It doesn’t matter who you are—your title, the number of degrees you have, or the digits in your bank account—because certain life challenges don’t discriminate.
Over the past few years, our society has been pushed to its breaking point and forced into a reality we never imagined. We've had to learn to adapt, to navigate through the chaos and uncertainty of this new “normal”.
But amidst all this turmoil, I really want to put a spotlight on entrepreneurs - the people who try to do it all and be everyone for everyone. In a world where every step feels like tiptoeing through a minefield of uncertainty, they're expected to not just survive, but to thrive—to lead, to innovate, to keep the wheels turning, all while grappling with the unknown.
As the founder of four organizations, I've tasted the bitterness of frustration, felt the crushing weight of loneliness, and battled the relentless exhaustion that comes with the territory.
I find myself asking, how is anyone expected to constantly put on a smile for the world all while bearing the weight of an entire business on their shoulders?
While the title of founder may sound prestigious, behind it lies a burden—one that often goes unspoken and thus leaves many hesitant to seek assistance. So, the question is, when are you supposed to finally admit that you need help carrying the load?
Based on my experience, here are three signs that it might be time to seek a lifeline:
You feel overwhelmed and frustrated.
Feeling: Every morning starts with a knot in your stomach, knowing that another day of relentless tasks lies ahead. It's like trying to swim against a powerful current, desperately pushing forward but feeling like you're getting nowhere.
Problem: It's not just the sheer volume of work that weighs you down—it's the overwhelming sense that no matter how much you do, there's always more to be done. It's like being stuck in a maze with no map, unsure of which path will lead you to your goals.
Solution: Take a deep breath and step back from the chaos. Break down your goals into smaller, more manageable tasks and create a roadmap for the next few months. On Sundays, set aside time to plan your week by allocating specific time blocks for each main task. Then, each morning, take 5-10 minutes to fine-tune your plan for the day. By setting clear priorities and allocating dedicated time for each task, you'll regain a sense of control and direction in your journey.

You feel alone.
Feeling: I totally get it, you feel like you're on an island all by yourself. It's like being lost in a crowd and you are yearning just to feel seen, heard, and validated.
Problem: Without a supportive community to lean on or someone to be with you every step of your journey, it is easy to feel isolated and alone.
Solution: Seek out and connect with like-minded individuals who can offer support, guidance, and encouragement. Whether it's joining a local networking group or participating in online forums, actively surrounding yourself with people who empathize with your journey can provide the emotional support and camaraderie you need to keep moving forward.
Additionally, consider partnering with an accountability coach who can offer personalized support tailored to your specific needs. A coach can provide a dedicated ally to help you navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship, offering a supportive ear, goal-setting assistance, and accountability to keep you on track towards success. By joining forces with a coach, you'll have a trusted companion to share the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, ensuring you never have to go it alone.
You lost your spark.
Feeling: You've poured your heart and soul into building your business, but somewhere along the way, you lost sight of why you started in the first place. It's like waking up from a dream and realizing that the passion and excitement you once felt have faded away.
Problem: The daily grind of running a business has overshadowed the joy and fulfillment that once fueled your entrepreneurial journey. It's like trudging through quicksand, each task just pulls you further away from the excitement and enthusiasm you once felt.
Solution: Take a moment to reconnect with your 'why'—the driving force behind your entrepreneurial journey. Reflect on the passion and purpose that inspired you to start your business, and find ways to reignite that spark. Delegate or streamline tasks that drain your energy which will allow you to focus on the aspects of your business that truly inspire and energize you. By realigning your work with your passion, you'll rediscover the joy and fulfillment that brought you to this journey in the first place.
Remember, asking for help isn't a sign of weakness; it's an act of courage and self-awareness. Just as NBA coaches elevate talented players, accountability coaches can assist you to reach new heights.
