Hey there....
Lately, I've been at a bit of a crossroads, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you. I'm still figuring things out for myself, but I know many of you — especially those who are moms — will understand this dilemma.
For the past three weeks, my daughter has been home with me on school holidays. She's just gone back to school, and during that time, my business has essentially been on hold. That was my plan: to embrace the "less hustle" approach and focus on being present at the moment. But now that I’m back at work, I’m reminded of all the challenges I’ve faced over the past year, from returning after maternity leave to navigating personal hardships, including my mother’s passing.
It’s been tough. I'm in a place where I need to rebuild my business after a year of ups and downs, and it's not quite where I want it to be. I have two podcasts that need my attention if they're going to succeed. The landscape has changed so much in the four years I’ve been away, but I see so much potential in it. Yet, I also don't want to find myself hustling non-stop, so I’m asking myself: What is the right path for me?
I’m currently grappling with some big questions: I don't want to work 50, 60, or 70 hours a week. I need to determine which parts of my work matter most, which feel the best, and ultimately, whether certain areas are a hobby or a business. This is a question many moms face — deciding what they’re doing is for their lifestyle, family, and security.
That’s what I love about being a business coach: these are the discussions that matter. Too often, people don’t take the time to reflect on what they truly want, and they end up overwhelmed and off-course. Just last week, I spoke to a client whose business coach wasn’t guiding her in the right direction, and it made me realize how crucial it is to start with the end goal and work backward from there.
I did this when I first decided to return to work, and things have morphed and shifted along the way. Now, I feel like it’s time to reassess and decide where I want to go from here. In exactly 30 days, I’m turning 45, and I want that to mark the beginning of a new chapter based on what I truly want.
Too often, I see people spinning their wheels, working themselves to the bone, feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and ultimately unhappy. The reason is usually a lack of proper planning and clear direction. This is especially true for moms, where life can change drastically from one moment to the next. It’s not something you can figure out once and then forget — it requires regular reflection and adjustment.
So, like I recommend to my clients, I’ll be sitting down over the next few weeks to decide where I want to focus my time and attention. I recently had a fantastic opportunity come through with my “Life on Purpose Over 40” podcast — a collaboration I initiated on a whim that turned out to be a perfect fit. It made me realize that perhaps I need to follow that path more intentionally and rethink my other commitments.
There is so much power in taking control and creating the business — and life — you want on your own terms. So, over the next four weeks, until I turn 45, I’ll be deciding on the direction for my business. I’m excited to work with incredible clients, coaching and mentoring them as they navigate their own journeys.
If you’re looking for guidance, I’d love to have an exploratory call with you to see if we’re a good fit to work together. Let’s create the plan and build the business you’ve always dreamed of — together.
To your success,
Caroline Balinska
