Navigating COVID-19 the SAS way

Navigating COVID-19 the SAS way

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve all gone through an incredible amount of disruption in our daily lives. As we, at SAS World Headquarters, wrap up a fourth week of telecommuting in response to COVID-19, I want to express gratitude to the entire SAS family – all of whom have embodied our values and culture at every turn. My leadership team and their global teams have kept laser focus on the personal and business well-being of our customers, partners, employees and their families.

? From building a VA dashboard to track the pandemic, helping our customers respond to new challenges (like optimizing hospital beds), creating models to forecast the impacts of the pandemic on regional populations and supply chains to contact tracing;

? From our IT team ensuring our infrastructure could support a fully remote global workforce, to our Health Care Center expanding virtual access to health care providers;

? From our fitness instructors hosting virtual meditations, energy management and exercise activities to our work/life department providing weekly resources to help cope with issues during this time, such as stress, anxiety, depression and parenting struggles…

Our teams continue to work tirelessly to help everyone better navigate the COVID-19 crisis and keep society moving. And, as people have more time in their daily routines, we’re making virtual learning more accessible for all adult learners, students and educators – for free.

Interesting how the accuracy of the base data throws the analysis into such sharp focus.? I think we all have some question-marks about the variation in factors such as the?levels of testing, the accuracy of those tests; the deaths not reported as Covid-19; the political motivations around reporting;?access to hospital facilities; etc. etc.? Not casting aspersions on the report at all - just highlights for me that no matter how good the tools are -?the tools can only work with the data that's available and that which can be reliably interpolated and extrapolated?from it.

Young children growing in Africa today, don't have access to technology and learning to help their communities and the world. What can we achieve if an entire section is isolated?
