Navigating Change: A Year in Review and Outlook for New Innovations in 2024

As we bid farewell to 2023, a year of challenges and triumphs, we want to share our reflections and aspirations with you. ????

2023 was in many ways a challenging year, marked by high interest, market fluctuations and a shift in the housing industry for new production. But it was also kind of interesting. With everything going on, artificial intelligence really took off, and the built environment industry showed bigger interest in innovation than ever before.

Reflecting on a dynamic year, we are excited to share some insights, lessons learned, and ideas for the upcoming future. ??

Industry shift

Amidst challenging times, it has become evident that our industry is undergoing significant transformations. From increased reliance on artificial intelligence to navigate market fluctuations, to a pronounced shift in the housing industry towards innovative re-cycling methods, these trends have prompted us to adapt and innovate.

In 2023, we witnessed a notable surge in the adoption of technologies such as generative AI, data-driven design, digital twins and AI for visualization and renderings. Concurrently, there is a trend of products pivoting towards specific verticals rather than offering broader, generalized tools. This shift has given rise to a diverse landscape comprising platforms, data providers, and an expanding ecosystem of novel AEC applications. These changes not only impact our day-to-day operations but also prompt a reevaluation of our business models to align with the evolving industry dynamics.

Looking ahead to 2024, we anticipate a sustained emphasis on sustainable practices, a growing intersection of technology and urban planning, and an increased focus on user-centric solutions.

As we discussed at events like Combify AB 's Shaping cities, Business Arena , and BIM Alliance conference, these trends will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of our industry and the future of our cities – and we're excited to be at the part of these transformative developments with our platform for generative design! ??

Accelerating deeptech and innovation

In response to transformative trends, we at Parametric Solutions have proactively embraced innovation. By integrating artificial intelligence with generative design and leveraging advanced GIS data, we've empowered our capabilities to swiftly create comprehensive volume studies, conduct scenario planning, and optimize spatial planning.

To meet the market demands we overhauled our business and marketing strategies. Transitioning from a few enterprise customers to a broad user base, the positive impact is evident in our results. Market fluctuations have proven to be fertile ground for innovation, prompting us to reassess what truly creates value for our users and customers. We've successfully aligned our focus with scalability and sustainability.

Belief in innovation is shared not just by us but also by Vinnova , as they announced an open call for deeptech companies in Sweden. We are proud to be one of the selected companies, contributing to deeptech acceleration both in Sweden and internationally within the AEC industry.

Additionally, we are honored to be part of 'Uppskalning AI,' where we actively drive AI development further within municipalities. As participants in municipal innovation programs, we extend an invitation to interested municipalities, both within Sweden and internationally, involved in urban planning.

The program (a continuation of the project within Smart Built Environment ) remains open until June, and if you are working in a municipality and are curious about AI for urban planning, express your interest in participating here: https://calendly.com/erik-sandin/discovery-call-with-parametric-solutions?month=2023-12

Upcoming Features

During the past year we have received amazing feedback from our users and early adopters. We have tried to meet as many of you as possible to deeply understand your needs. And we have heard you. You said you wanted more study types, control over unit distribution and a better overview of the wide design scope.

Responding to your feedback, we are therefore set to implement unit optimization and enhancements to the logistics script and to the Single Family Housing script in 2024. Most importantly, we are also giving you more control. Iteration is key, and we are developing support for faster iterations and improved user experiences related to the wide design scope.

Scaling our team

As we reflect on a dynamic year, we're happy to share the fantastic news of our team's growth by four outstanding members. Martin Skarby joined us and are now leading the data generation for AI training within the field of acoustic simulations together with Treble Technologies . Simon Brob?ck and Sofia Malmsten have been pivotal in shaping user experiences through their efforts in marketing and packaging, while Alexander Radne and Erik Forsberg , working closely with devCake , have significantly enhanced our advanced design algorithms to better serve you.

With our user base steadily expanding, we're also happy to introduce Erik Sandin to the team. Bringing a wealth of experience as a seasoned SaaS B2B sales professional, Erik will lead sales efforts this spring. His contributions will seamlessly align with the upcoming launch of our new features, designed with your needs in mind. We believe these developments will bring positive results, further enhancing your experience with our platform.
