Navigating Change: Achieving Consensus Through Communication
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Susie Gharib at FORTUNE to talk about navigating people and organizations through change. At the risk of stating the obvious, change is difficult. And the bigger the changes, the harder it is for people to comprehend, accept, and champion them.
In my opinion, an effective Leader must be decisive, communicate well, and foster collaboration and teamwork to get the job done. That takes patience, time, and conviction.
As a Leader, first you have to decide on a course of action. Then, you have to decide how you want to communicate. In order for change to be effective and successful, it’s critically important to achieve a consensus among your teams. One of the best ways to do that is through effective communication. I would estimate that 90 percent of my job as CEO involves communication. If you don’t have a passion and a willingness to communicate with your people, you might not be cut out for leadership. To me, the two go hand-in-hand.
I enjoyed my conversation with Susie, which I’ve included here if you’re interested in watching the interview.

9 年There is value in using company employees in positions versus contract employees. It lends that hand needed to move a company along. Contract employee generally work hard servicing an airline with limited rewards. Company employees yield the benefits, have that invested interest to keep the company a competitive company.

9 年Great insight. I would appreciate it if you took a look at the potential for change and the opportunities that would be created by a major airline like Southwest deciding to utilize the tropical paradise that is between Barahona and Pedernales Dominican Republic. This area is International Airport ready (BRX) and with it's pristine waterfalls, hot springs and powder sand beaches it is ripe for the pickin. Take a look at some of my posts and let me know if you agree? Thank you Greg E Stewart
