Today it's snowing. We’ve been expecting some snow because the weather service forecast it. ?We didn’t quite know where it would snow when it would arrive, and how much would fall and it's made all the more difficult because we live in a valley in the foot hills of the Pennines which as has its own microclimate. We woke up to around 6’’ (15cm) in snow, despite the weather being metric it's funny how we still measure the depth in “imperial”, seems more natural.?My partner was out shopping yesterday just to stock up on a few extra essentials as we do in the UK just in case the weather closed the roads or made them too bad to drive on safely.

Just so you know how bad it’s been overnight the mountain rescue teams have been helping motorists trapped on the M62 the high-level motorway connecting the two most excellent counties in the UK, Lancashire and Yorkshire.
