Navigating Around Weaknesses As A Leader

Well hey there, you’re here, I’m here, and we’re wrapping up another week with a Culture Junky LinkedIn Exclusive.
Today, I want to talk about a post I saw from Gary Vaynerchuk (AKA Gary Vee) on LinkedIn. If you’ve been following my Culture Junky content for some time, then chances are you remember that I wrote a weekly blog a while back talking about how there are natural-born leaders, and then there are those who have to learn how to lead.
What I basically wrote about, is that people who learn to lead aren’t in some impossible race they’ll never win, they just have to recognize their weaknesses and then work to make sure that those weaknesses are addressed. Sometimes that means personal growth, other times, that means bringing in someone who is strong in areas where you and your team are weak so that you can fill in the gaps .
Well, as a post from Gary Vee on LinkedIn this week said:
“The best part of acknowledging your weaknesses is that you can then start navigating around them.”
Along with the post, he wrote in the caption: Hire people who can help you fill the gaps on your weaknesses while you go all-in on your strengths. many have it reversed!
As I wrote in that old Culture Junky Weekly Blog I mentioned before, we all have strengths and we all have weaknesses. While we can work to improve our weaknesses, we still have areas where we’re naturally stronger, whatever those areas may be.
As Gary Vee suggests, maybe instead of spending time focusing on how we can improve our weaknesses, we hire people who can complement us and fill in those gaps, while we absolutely crush it in the areas where we’re naturally strong.
That way, we have strong, talented people crushing it in their area of expertise.
Think about that, The Culture Junky sure will.
Be good to each other out there.
