NAVIGATING THE AI WAVE OF DISINFORMATION

The rise of AI overwhelms us with misleading information that will be increasingly difficult to detect. To protect ourselves from confusion that could lead to a societal collapse, we need to act quickly.

Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn, has introduced a digital twin – an AI clone capable of conducting conversations on his behalf. Similarly, Isabella L?wengrip is re-launching her influencer persona, Bella, for the US market. These developments prompt an essential question: What happens when we can no longer determine who is speaking?

  • Educate students on media literacy and critical thinking.
  • Encourage discussions on historical comparisons and envisioning our desired reality.

2. Hold Tech Companies Accountable:

  • Implement stricter regulations and monitoring of tech companies for the content on their platforms.

3. Promote Independent Journalism:

  • Support journalism that delivers truthful information.
  • Create roles such as analogue history monitors, human source reviewers, and intuitive deep fake reviewers.

At an individual level:

1. Be Sceptical and Verify Information:

  • Question sensational information.
  • Double-check sources and be cautious about sharing unverified material.
  • Develop and trust your intuitive abilities.

2. Understand AI and Deep Fakes:

  • Learn how AI and deep fakes operate.
  • Create and own your data and history to better identify and counter false information.

3. Rely on Established News Sources:

  • Use multiple reputable sources to form your own informed perspective.
  • Exercise caution with information from social media and lesser-known sites.

Developing Future Skills According to McKinsey's Future Skills Matrix, mastering big data management and honing intuitive skills are essential. This combination of analytical and intuitive skills is vital for navigating the complexities of modern information flows.

By enhancing media literacy and enforcing accountability among tech companies, we can cultivate a more resilient and informed society. A clear vision is crucial to prevent manipulation and stay on course.

This is a great read with many practical and helpful tips. And to respond to your question, digitalization itself doesn’t inherently cause disinformation. However, social media and other digital tools can be used as a medium through which disinformation is spread, either purposely or mistakenly. We need to promote responsible use combined with strong fact-checking and media literacy. This is also a topic we are supporting at Fact Finders Pro, developing AI-enabled tools to detect disinformation and fake news.??
