In today's digital world, the word "AI" (Artificial Intelligence) is everywhere, talked about in tech, finance, healthcare, and education. It's used so much that every program or algorithm seems to get called AI. But we need to see the real difference between a regular program and true Artificial Intelligence.
During my first semester of MBA exams, I saw this clearly. We were getting ready to take our exams online, and there was a proctoring program. People were calling it "AI-powered surveillance" excitedly. But when we looked closer, it was just doing simple tasks like watching exams and spotting certain actions. It wasn't learning or making decisions like real AI does.
This isn't just about that one example. It's a bigger issue. People, especially young professionals and students, are eager for new tech. They hear "AI" and think it's a big deal. So they use it for any software or system, even if it's not really AI.
So, what's the big difference between true AI and regular programs? AI means machines acting smart, like humans. They learn from data, adapt to new things, and make choices on their own. They do this using fancy math like machine learning and neural networks.
But regular programs follow rules set by humans. They're good at their job, but they can't think or learn on their own. They need people to tell them what to do.

The problem with calling everything AI is that it makes people expect too much. They think regular programs can do things like be creative or solve problems like humans do. But that's not true. This can lead to disappointment and make people doubt real AI when it's useful.
And when everyone calls everything AI, it makes things confusing. We lose sight of what real AI can do and what it can't. That's why it's important to understand AI better.
Education is key to fixing this. We need to teach people what AI really is and how to tell it apart from regular programs. And the people making AI need to be clear about what their tech can do.
In the end, we need to be clear about what's just a program and what's true AI. That way, we can use technology wisely and not get caught up in the hype.
