The Job Market's February Buzz...is coming!

February, despite being a grey month (and the one where we have the pain of paying for the December fun(!) is one of the best times for job seekers? ?

Job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed usually report increased activity in February, as employers ramp up their hiring efforts to fill roles for the year ahead as budgets are signed off – or last year’s budget need to be spent! ?For job seekers, this means fresh opportunities and an active market. If you’re considering a career change, now is the perfect time to be prepared to position yourself for that move.

Here are some key statistics to consider:

  • 60% of professionals?start job hunting in Q1, with February seeing a notable spike in activity.
  • Many companies aim to finalise hiring plans before the end of the first quarter, creating urgency in the market.

If a career change is on your?2025 wish list, here are some quick-fire steps to help you get started:

1.?Review Your CV

  • Tailor it to the roles you’re targeting – every single time.
  • Use action verbs and quantify achievements (e.g., “Increased sales by 25%”).
  • Ensure your personal profile highlights your unique value.

2.?Optimise Your LinkedIn Profile

  • Update your headline to reflect the roles or industries you’re targeting.
  • State the job role you are looking for – make it easy for the Recruiter!
  • Add a strong summary showcasing your skills, achievements, and career goals.
  • Start networking—connect with others in your desired field.

3.?Set Clear Goals

  • Reflect on what you want from your next role: salary, responsibilities, growth potential.
  • Prioritise what matters most to you, whether it’s flexibility, leadership opportunities, or a new challenge.

4.?Take Action

  • Begin applying strategically, focusing on quality over quantity.
  • Reach out to recruiters and contacts for referrals or introductions.
  • Avoid hitting send on a job advert ‘to see what happens!’ Make everything you do intentional
  • Don’t use the fastest finger first approach of just applying as it ‘looks interesting’ – apply only with intent!
