"Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong." Hebrews 5:14 NLT
"Practice makes perfect".
When you practice being a bad person, over time you become one. When you practice being good, you'll eventually hear the testimonials.
When you continually fulfil work demands that you know don't align with your values, you'll become someone else.
Early on, it might be difficult for you to realise that you're straying off the path, especially when you haven't defined what your values are. But the defining moment always comes at that point where your next decision will set the trajectory for the rest of your life.
When that moment comes, will you be mature enough to recognise the difference between right and wrong?
I've had difficult moments where after taking certain actions, I would cry afterwards just mumbling, "This isn't me. This isn't whom I want to be."
Every day we make similar decisions. All families decide on the number of children, types of food to eat, when to sleep, financial responsibilities, etc. Leaders across all organisations make decisions around hiring and firing, product creation, culture definition, revenue generation, community impact, etc.
The difference is in the method. How your decision will be implemented is defined by what you consider right or wrong.
In a new environment with vaguely defined values, you'll eventually develop the skill, after many trials and mistakes, to discern the difference between right and wrong. The path you choose will become your transformation story.
Will you be lost at sea, or will you reach the shore? May God help us arrive safely and in one piece.
