Three myths about monetizing 5g that are costing you money.

Communications service providers (CSPs) have ample opportunities to monetize their 5G networks across various industries like manufacturing, energy, healthcare, logistics, smart cities, and smart homes. However, the transition to delivering ultra-fast wireless services introduces organizational challenges and frustrations. CSPs must adapt their operational models and processes to effectively tap into the potential of 5G, overcoming long-held beliefs and myths that hinder necessary changes for growth in the 5G ecosystem.

Monetize Your 5G Investments Using Cognizant’s Digital Services Marketplace on AWS.

Communications service providers (CSPs) aim to transform into digital service providers (DSP) to succeed in the digital era. To capitalize on the $700 billion global enterprise opportunity facilitated by 5G by 2030, CSPs must simplify their architectures and collaborate with ecosystem partners to develop vertical solutions. This approach will allow them to serve both business (B2B2X) and consumer (B2C) markets, positioning themselves as digital ecosystem providers (DEP) and enhancing their position in the evolving market.

Catalysts, proof-of-concepts

Zero touch marketplace – Phase V

To capitalize on the commercial opportunities that come with their unique position in the ecosystem and meet their sustainability goals, CSPs must focus on enabling cross-industry solutions with ever-greater operational efficiency.

This Catalyst focused on Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) with Intent-based autonomous closed-loop operations. Utilizing Cognizant's Neuro platform, it employed key capabilities for building intent-based closed-loop operations. The initiative included a Type II Marketplace for end-to-end solutions in Smart Spaces. Interactions with Amazon Supply Chain aimed to optimize logistics, and Amazon Fuse facilitated wholesale distribution for Amazon consumer services through B2B partnerships. This catalyst was 'championed' by Verizon, Colt, STC, and supported by AWS, Hansen, and was led by Cognizant.

The Catalyst was a finalist for Outstanding Catalyst Business Impact.

This Catalyst was showcased at Digital Transformation World 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Zero touch marketplace – Phase IV

This TM Forum Catalyst project enables CSPs to move beyond connectivity and become Digital Ecosystem Providers. Creating new revenue streams by offering value-added services through a multi-party business ecosystem and reducing the complexity of B2B2X solutions by simplifying onboarding and operations by adhering to Open Digital Architecture (ODA) will help CSPs will move up the value chain. The proof-of-concept was 'championed' by Verizon, Colt, and supported by NEC, Hansen, and was led by Cognizant.

The Catalyst was a finalist for Outstanding Catalyst Business Impact.

This Catalyst was showcased at Digital Transformation World Asia 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Private Optimized Connectivity

This Catalyst featured Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) platforms enable telecom operators to expose their capabilities to third-party service providers through open APIs. This transforms telco networks into programmable service platforms, fostering seamless integration with third-party applications. This benefits both CSPs and third parties, with CSPs seizing opportunities to generate new revenue streams and monetize 5G, access, and edge computing investments. Third parties can move away from traditional service delivery models, utilizing network capabilities to enhance user experiences and contribute innovative services to the digital ecosystem. The Catalyst was championed by ATT and TIM, with support form Cognizant, Amdocs, TCS, Brillio, and HCL Tech.

This Catalyst was showcased at Digital Transformation World 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Zero touch Digital Marketplace phase III

As new network technologies enable next-generation applications and services, businesses will need to access and deploy them as efficiently as possible - meaning minimal human interaction where possible.

This Catalyst will enable product managers to release their goods into a zero-touch digital market, where they will be seamlessly delivered to each customer using 5G, IoT, and edge computing. Focusing initially on four key industries - sports, healthcare, mining and gaming - this Catalyst, with its "industry-agnostic" marketplace ecosystem, will help CSPs realize new revenue streams as countless sectors undergo digital transformation in the years ahead.

The catalyst was 'championed' by Verizon, Colt, STC, FA Cup, supported by AWS, Hansen, Gamestream, and was led by Cognizant.

The Catalyst was was the winner for an 'Outstanding Catalyst for Business Impact'.

5G Digital Services Marketplace – Phase II

Many businesses grapple with the problem of latency, which can be mitigated through the use of multi-access edge computing (MEC) – edge cloud-based deployments. Meanwhile, containerized network functions perform better in a stateless manner, and can be orchestrated more effectively using the power of open container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. This Catalyst demonstrated how deploying solutions on edge clouds using containerized network functions can radically change the architecture of enterprise network services, enabling them to provide low-latency services faster.

The catalyst was 'championed' by Verizon, Colt, supported by AWS, ServiceNow, Subex, STL, and was led by Cognizant.

The Catalyst was was the winner for an 'Outstanding Catalyst for the use of Open Digital Architecture'.

This Catalyst was showcased online at Digital Transformation World 2021 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Autonomous networks hyperloops - Enabling self-X digital services for smart-X verticals Phase II

This Catalyst envisioned how Autonomous Networks (AN) can create disruptive services that are completely autonomous and designed for zero-fault operations with auto-scaling based on customer expectations.

The project designed, built and prototyped different types of value-generating services for cities, entertainment, and industry leveraging Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) and Open RAN to enable a complete AN framework stack. It also aimed to define and implement domains and use cases to validate elements of AN hyperloops.

The catalyst was 'championed' by Orange, NTT, supported by Futurewei, and Cognizant.

The Catalyst was was the finalist for an 'Outstanding Catalyst for the use of Open Digital Architecture'.

This Catalyst was showcased online at Digital Transformation World 2021 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
