We introduce triethyl citrate, which is a preferential substrate for the bacterial lipase, thereby diverting its activity and maintaining the integrity of sebum triglycerides, reducing inflammatory fatty acids, and restricting nutrient to c.acnes. Even more so, the triethyl citrate releases sequentially three molecules of citric acid dropping the pH to around 3.6 in the follicle which kills c.acnes.

Secondly, we use oligopeptide 10 to thin the bacterial cell wall making it even more susceptible to the citric acid. Last but not lease we introduce ethyl linoleate which releases linoleic acid which reduces local DHT sensitivity and is an effective inhibitor of 5 alpha reductase but has no systemic side effects. Linoleic acid levels are inversely proportional to DHT sensitivity as levels drop DHT sensitivity increases. ?We reestablish TEWL control and restore intercellular lipid levels, creating conditions where new spots cannot form.

Study published in the BJD (2007 Charakida et al) show a reduction in sebum excretion by an average of 53% within 7 to 14 days and a consistent reduction in lesions, inflamed and none inflamed each week of the study.?
