Natural vs artificial light - what's the difference?

For the sake of your health you must understand that not all light is created equal.

Notice how there is a wonderful balance between all of the colours.

A combination of all of the different visible wavelengths of light makes the sun a very powerful healing and energising force.

This type of light is exactly what our brain and body have become accustomed to throughout our evolution.

Exposing ourselves to healthy amounts of natural light is a necessary step for health and happiness.

The next diagram shows the spectrum of LED light emitted by phones and electronic devices.

You'll notice that the light given off by modern technology is imbalanced and has a very high spike of blue light.

Without the balance of the other colours (particularly the red, yellow and orange light) this light becomes toxic to the eye when you are exposed to it during the day and nighttime.

Exposing yourself to this LED light during the daytime can lead to headaches, migraines, fatigue, eye strain and in the long term macular degeneration.

Exposing yourself to this LED light during the nighttime will suppress the production of your body's sleep hormone melatonin, keeping you in a state of high alertness and damaging your sleep quality.

LED light exposure after sunset will also disrupt your circadian rhythm, which can have far-reaching consequences to every aspect of your mental and physical health.

Natural light is well.. natural. We've evolved under sunlight for millions of years.

Artificial light damages of brain and body. We must protect ourselves from blue LED lighting using modern tools such as light filtering programmes (Iristech.co) and blue light blocking glasses.

Ideally, we'd have no blue LED light in our nighttime environment at all, but this is nearly impossible in modern society.

Therefore, we need to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves against the challenges of living in a modern technological age.
