Natural Stone Doesn't Always Have To Be Heavy!
Tim Pick, LEED AP
Sales Director - Polycor Fabrication and Distribution Division / Canada
Natural Stone has been used for decades along side other masonry as the primary choice when selected your building materials. Along with the performance and beauty comes the heavy weight that many new buildings and homes are not designed to support. That is now a thing of the past. New technology has allowed for more unique ways to install and provide lighter materials that still have extremely high performance, the same aesthetics, but just at a lighter weight.
Thin Stone Veneer installation can be as simple as an installation using mortar, just like you would do as a tile. Like Polycor Berkshire, Rockford, and Vanderbilt Thin Stone. For more information on these Veneers click on the link https://hardscapes.polycor.com/products/veneers/
Alternatively if the project requirements call for a slightly thicker stone that is able to be adhered with a mortar there are systems available that are designed to support the stone that are economical and result in very quick installation. Such as the TecWall system by Sunnywei.
Substantially lighter. Significantly stronger. Intelligently modular.
Where extreme light weight is needed, especially as you look at high-rises and commercial projects. Utilization of aluminum honeycomb and composite panel systems with a thin veneer stone facing is the most advanced leap in the stone facade industry in quite some time. Lightweight limestone panels weigh in at 80% less than solid slabs, which translates to a vastly lighter load—on structures, labor crews and equipment costs.
You and your project deserve only deserve the best, Natural Stone, and with multiple applications of installing, thicknesses, colors, and styles there is a Natural Stone available for every application.
