Most people define the word depression as a horrible thing that destroys everything in your life. Feeling depressed doesn’t always mean that the person needs psychological assistance. The sense of “depression” is linked with individual cognition. One can express sadness, pressure, low mood, frustration, or failures as depression which is not actually Clinical Depression. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the situation clearly.
Some Clearly Identifiable symptoms of Depression,
If the symptoms mentioned above persist for more than two weeks, a proper psychological assessment and assistance are needed. But always keep in your mind, the diagnosis should be done by a qualified professional because Clinical Depression has specific diagnostic criteria.
The responsibility of dealing with depression is linked with the cooperation of professionals and clients. It is useless to expect the whole contribution from your doctor or the therapist. These are some natural resources that can help you to accomplish a good level of resilience, simultaneously with professional psychological assistance.
?1. Time
Expecting instant relief like painkillers may deteriorate your motivation for healing yourself. Patience is a must. Imbalance of certain brain chemicals (neurotransmitters/and hormones) such as Dopamine, Norepinephrine, and Serotonin are biologically accountable for depression. The lower amount of brain chemicals can not be restored to the optimal limit in one night. So medication and therapy along with self-help are highly needed for this process. Let the time to do that!
2. Experience
The skill of coping with depression comes with the experience. It may feel hard to deal with depression in the early teenage or early days you undergo it. It is due to the lack of awareness, narrow vision about everyday situations, and framed thinking. But with time you may gain experience. That doesn't mean the depression is long-lasting. You could get answers for how this happens, and why this happens. Hence, you'll not react in the same way as you did in the very first stages. You'll be strong enough to face failures and analyze your mental condition with your experience. Experience makes you stronger, believe it!
3. Healthy Diet
Eating too much or too low directly affects your mood. The amount you take should be nutritious and sufficient for your survival. Some foods have a mood-boosting ability that influences brain chemicals. Although there is no specific diet for depression, natural food intake can reduce the risk of any diseases. Furthermore, some people get anxious and depressed from obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and body shape. So following a proper diet is beneficial in every way. A healthy figure improves your confidence!
4. Physical Activities
This is not only to lose weight. Doing regular exercise is beneficial in various ways. It releases the brain chemical called Endorphin that helps to wipe out mental pain. Hard or moderately hard physical activities move you away from worries. It stops overthinking the same matter. Similarly, workouts help to shape your body and improve fitness. It increases self-confidence. Sports and dance help to maintain your physical and mental well-being simultaneously improving your talents. An active body keeps the mind calm!

5. Sunlight
Sunlight is a very important and zero-cost aid we can have. It is a natural way of vitamin D synthesis. Vitamins are essential for the healing process. And also sun exposure boosts Serotonin, a brain chemical that stabilizes the mood. Despite this, exposure to morning sunlight is a nice experience. Have a refreshing walk under the morning rays!
6. Love and Laugh
Each of you may define love in various ways. The most usual complaint is that "I got depression because of love" Such traumatic incidents can happen. But it is because of the way you handle the situation, not because of love. Cuddling and hugging boost Oxytocin, the love hormone. Similarly, playing with a pet, or a baby can wipe out all your troubles for a moment. Never hesitate to give compliments to others, it rewards naturally.
Laughing is the best mental healing activity that I have ever experienced. Whenever you get anxious or depressed just move away and find something to laugh at. It may be a funny video, buddies, or family members. No matter what it is, what you need is to focus on laughing since it releases brain chemicals such as Endorphins. Love to live, live to love!
7. Completing Daily Tasks / Self-care Activities
Practically it is hard to concentrate on your daily stuff when you are severely depressed. So, try to follow this before you lose the balance of your mental well-being. This can be done simultaneously with professional assistance. Modify your appearance, write a journal, stop procrastination, be punctual, do a hobby, and reward yourself for completing tasks because those things boost your Dopamine. Complete and cut each task in your To-do-list!
8. Talking with someone you can rely on and who can guide you correctly
This seems too hard sometimes. Not all people have the ability to give you psychological first aid and protect your privacy and confidentiality. So, each one should find a close circle of trustworthy friends or family members. Listeners are good, but listeners who can guide you to professional help are the best. It is useless to have a listener who takes your problem as a story. In such a case never hesitate to seek professional help, because mental health care professionals are ethically bound to protect their client's privacy and confidentiality while being non-judgmental. It is ok to express your emotions!
9. Read and Learn about psychology and mental wellbeing
