Meet Coco...
He's a gorgeous 10-year-old Maltese cross something, something bored foo foo fluffball with a high pitched bark that will make its way through the acres of acoustic foam and 5 sheets of plasterboard with ease at 200 metres...
Got one in your neighborhood? I do... He lives next door, in fact, he's done so, for the last ten years.
So, you ask, How do you keep Coco out of your recordings without doing something that we'd consider cruel to a defenseless animal?
Well, there are a few options to the budding VO Talent.
- record when Coco is asleep, at the vet, or visiting grandma.... not very convenient.
- record in-between coco's barks, planes, and motor mowers, because these also send Coco off...
- Get some helpful software or even better... Hardware!
Check out: Waves Plugins - NS1 noise suppression software
Isotope RX elements - de noise
Or the best of the bunch to my knowledge, the DBX 286s...
An affordable preamp with gates and enhancers that make the Cocos of the world instantly disappear, So you can get on with your pristine recording with a smile on your face and nary a trace of frustration in your voice...
