As early as next winter, Russian President Vladimir Putin may plan a hybrid attack against NATO . This could involve cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and proxy forces. NATO is on high alert and preparing for any potential attack. The Bundeswehr (German Federal Armed Forces) envisions the possibility of hundreds of thousands of NATO troops mobilized and the likelihood of war erupting by the summer of 2025.
Zapad 2024, a large-scale military exercise set to begin in September, will involve 50,000 soldiers across western Russia and Belarus.
Swedish security experts say international concerns about Russia's conflict potential have grown. Sweden’s Minister for Civil Protection, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, stated, ‘There could be a war in Sweden.’ As the summer months progress, more overt attacks on Western interests, including cyber warfare, might occur. Sweden is taking steps to protect itself, including beefing up security at borders and airports. It is also increasing its military capabilities and investing in cyber-security measures.
