National Work-Life Week

This week, October 2nd to 6th is National Work-Life Week. This week aims to promote a healthy work-life balance, no matter what industry you are working in.?
The Education Sector
We should all already be aware of the pressure within the education sector to take our work home with us. Whether that is lesson plans, marking, or general admin, we always take something home with us.?
This week we should all take a look at how this impacts our work-life balance. While we have to appreciate that there will be times when this work will need to be completed outside of school hours, we need to ensure a balance.
Finding The Balance
Finding the balance can be difficult, particularly when lesson plans and marking are involved. If this sounds familiar, why not take a look at how and when you are completing these activities? Look at ensuring that they are done away from family time, and away from your relaxation areas. Schedule separate time into your week, in a place that you can associate with this type of work. This will help you to separate your work and your life, while still ensuring what needs to be done is done.?
Your Team
It’s important to consider your team this week and ensure that they are not taking the lion's share of the work home with them and that they too have an equal work-life balance.?
So if you are considering one of our online qualifications for your Teaching Assistants, make sure that you can allocate them ample time to complete the course. This could be through a discussion to ensure they are happy to take the work home, and allocate their own time, or that you can allocate them school hours to complete the course.?
